Horses and ponies have
been an integral part of my life since childhood. Growing up on
the west side of Michigan, I spent summers competing in both
Western and English disciplines as well as teaching young
children the basics of riding. I fell in love with Hunters
and Jumpers as a young teen and began focusing on basic dressage
and equitation. I continued to compete as a member of the
Michigan State Equestrian Team while pursuing a degree in
Communications at MSU.
After teaching my own
daughters to ride at a young age, it seemed a natural
progression to pick up where I had left off. I once again
found myself teaching both children and adults the joys of
riding, the responsibilities of horse care and guiding them to
test themselves through the excitement of competition.
Over the last 15 years I have enjoyed coaching students from
local schooling shows to national competitions.
I am a board
member of the Michigan Hunter Jumper Association (MHJA)
and
a Vet Assistant with a large Oakland County Equine practice.
My involvement
with these organizations allows me a unique professional network
in which I continue to learn and better understand current
trends within the industry.
